The following day is a day of rest, however you
do have the option of driving the famous off-road Jaffa Circuit
situated nearby and visiting the mining settlements that lay
beyond the spectacular gorges of the Qued Moulouya or staying
on site and learning how to cook traditional Moroccan Tanjin
dishes.
The following day we drive south heading for Merzouga and the
largest sand dunes in Morocco. Based at a trditional Kazbar just
outside the village you will have the chance to go camel treking
and learn some basics of dune driving techniques before we head
off on a 2 day desert traverse through the northern Sahara. Passing
through traditional desert villages and small oases we wild camp
one night in the desert arriving the following day in the town
of Zagora.
From here we head north over the High Atlas mountains via the
famous Tizi n Tichka pass reaching highs of 2260 meters. Decending
out of the moutains we arrive in Marrakesh where you have a day
to visit the city with its mystical medinas and enchanting entertainers,
an ideal time to shop for souvenirs. Taking the road north from
the city we head for Rabat and spend one night on a campsite
on the Atlantic coast before making our way back to Tangier and
the boat bound for Spain.
