Steep Tech Jacket Love it, I am happy to say that this is one of the best jackets I have ever purchased. I am currently living in the Alps in Switzerland. Outside temperature dropped to -10°C one night so I thought I would give my new jacket a test run, I decided to take a walk around the resort. The snow was up to 8inches deep in some places and a moderate breeze really kept the temperature down. I Zipped myself inside and clipped the buckle around my waste. As I reached the top of the village I tripped on black ice and slid some way on my back and elbows. When I came to a stop and stood up I inspected the jacket, there was not a mark on it and other than a little bruised I was also fine. This truly is a hardcore jacket, plenty warm enough and the water proof breathable fabric is perfect for the job! The only thing I would say is that the jacket is heavy and expensive but if you can cope with the weight, and your wallet with the cost and you need a jacket ready to deal with anything you can through at it, then this is the jacket for you.

0141.jpgWell it happened, the first snow for winter 2007. We were just getting settled in and doing a few jobs around the place when the cry went out, it’s snowing… Oh my god are we going to get more snow than last year, or are we just getting our hopes up before it makes it’s way back to the U.S. I don’t think so, it is early this year and it has been a good fall as the Swiss have opened 50% of their pistes. So, you should be able to get a few good deals before Christmas.

Ski Lifts First Snow Winter 2007

Well back to the snow. It first started to fall Monday night, the 14th November and it snowed and snowed for about 27hrs. We got about 7 to 8 ins or 20cm which is great as everything looks beautiful. So now there is snow on the 650kms of piste in the Porte du Soleil ski area, one of the Worlds largest ski areas surrounded by pretty small villages and served by an excellent network of lifts.

So less of this, its time to get your skis, get here and have some fun. It’s not that far away, about 2hrs flying or a day’s drive from the UK.

Now a few days on, the snow is still here and they say there is more on the way which is good news for everyone. Could this be a better year here, or are we just getting our hopes up?

But the good news is the pistes are now open. So what are you doing still sat at home thinking about it?
